Senior Design Systems Engineer (Remote Eligible)
Skills
- Modern JavaScript (ES6+) and strong TypeScript proficiency
- React component development and state management patterns
- CSS authoring, responsive layout, and cross-browser compatibility
- Experience building and maintaining design systems or shared component libraries
- Accessibility (WCAG) best practices and ARIA usage
- Familiarity with testing for UI (Jest, Testing Library) and component tooling (Storybook)
- Packaging and publishing libraries, monorepo tooling, and developer tooling (Node.js CLIs)
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain reusable UI components and patterns aligned with design system guidelines and accessibility standards
- Collaborate with product engineers and designers to translate designs into robust, maintainable front-end code
- Publish and maintain shared code packages, document best practices, and provide implementation guidance to enable adoption
- Influence design system architecture, perform code reviews, and optimize component APIs for performance and accessibility
- Partner with designers to prototype new interaction patterns and codify them into reusable building blocks
- Build internal tooling (CLI tools, lint rules, Figma plugins) to streamline engineering and design workflows
- Create functional prototypes or proofs-of-concept to validate design or technical feasibility
- Advocate for system adoption, consistency, and high-quality code through reviews, presentations, and cross-team collaboration
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, HCI, Design, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Continuous learning mindset with demonstrated front-end specialization
