At Serve Robotics, we’re reimagining how things move in cities. Our personable sidewalk robot is our vision for the future. It’s designed to take deliveries away from congested streets, make deliveries available to more people, and benefit local businesses.
The Serve fleet has been delighting merchants, customers, and pedestrians along the way in Los Angeles while doing commercial deliveries. We’re looking for talented individuals who will grow robotic deliveries from surprising novelty to efficient ubiquity.
We are tech industry veterans in software, hardware, and design who are pooling our skills to build the future we want to live in. We are solving real-world problems leveraging robotics, machine learning and computer vision, among other disciplines, with a mindful eye towards the end-to-end user experience. Our team is agile, diverse, and driven. We believe that the best way to solve complicated dynamic problems is collaboratively and respectfully.
Role Overview
As a Manager of Systems Reliability Engineering, you and your team are responsible for ensuring the lifetime reliability, durability, and availability of our autonomous sidewalk delivery robots. You will lead efforts to identify potential failure modes, conduct rigorous testing, and drive cross-functional initiatives to improve overall system robustness and uptime. You and your team will serve as key drivers of product and service improvement, leveraging both fleet data and lab testing to enhance the in-field performance and longevity of our robots.
Responsibilities
Lead issue triage and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement mitigations and resolutions for identified high-occurrence and/or high-downtime issues, improving overall system uptime and availability
Manage and grow a team of best-in-class System Reliability Engineers
Develop and execute comprehensive reliability, durability, and lifetime test plans for the physical vehicle, including shock, drop, vibration, thermal, and ingress testing
Analyze maintenance, service, and repair data and on-call tickets to identify recurring issues, understand failure modes and frequencies, and use this data to inform, improve, and extend system reliability requirements
Design and execute targeted tests based on high-occurrence and/or high-downtime problems identified from field data
Drive corrective actions with engineering teams to address failures identified during reliability testing
Partner with fleet operations and on-call teams to reduce engineering dependency and enhance their efficiency in resolving issues
Qualifications
B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, or equivalent engineering field
