The smartphone market is highly competitive with little room for total market growth, and so our success lies in maintaining our own share, whilst securing share from competitors – which means being bold and purposeful in our marketing activities. This role has clear objectives:

  • Re-shape Samsung’s presence in the US – making us the #1 choice in mobile, by
  • Engaging and connecting with our current and future customers, by
  • Being present at key moments and in key places where they can experience our products first hand

In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing key IRL activations and programs that focus on getting consumers’ hands on our devices and experiences.  This will be a mix of owned and non-owned events and activations ranging from Sports, to Gaming, to Music and beyond. We are NOT looking for an experiential activation or event specialist, but someone who can execute 360 degree campaigns that are be centered around IRL moments and can drive massive scale in digital and social spaces.

This role is a mix of:

  • Strategy: Lead the strategy, annual calendar, roll-out, execution and measurement of experiential marketing to activate the Samsung Mobile differentiated brand and product experiences to grow brand relevance and product adoption
  • Experiential / “Touch Marketing”: Ideating, Developing and deploying impactful experiences that drive hands-on usage of our products in the most compelling ways
  • Sales/Demand Generation: Incorporating sales/lead gen best practice into IRL/physical activations and spaces that either drive to Samsung’s digital properties and/or to Carrier/Partner digital/physical stores
  • Brand Activations: Ensuring that our brand shows up in key moments and spaces that are additive/elevate the consumer experience – we do not do logo placement
  • Digital Marketing:  Driving maximum value, scale and RoI from every program and activation, across all channels including PR, Social, Influencers, CRM and Paid Media


Although this role is mobile-specific, other groups will expect you to be a source of best practice and expertise for marketing programs, and may call on your advice and input to help realize the potential of their businesses. You will rapidly become the “go-to” resource for guidance on how to execute flawless, impactful programs and will need to act with confidence and strong leadership.

You’ll be working heavily with Samsung’s internal teams in Korea to align on global-local strategies and implementations. You’ll work heavily with our Carrier and Retail stakeholders to ensure maximum value and amplification and best-practice knowledge sharing.  

This role will report directly to the Head of Partnerships and Activations as part of the Mobile Marketing organization.

Role Objectives

  • Own Samsung’s IRL Activation/Experiential roadmap, identifying key moments and places where Samsung should show up/be present
  • Ideate, Create and Deploy physical activations and experiences across both owned and third party events and spaces (e.g. Samsung launch events, Sports stadiums)
  • Collaborate with Creative teams to design compelling spaces and branding that showcases the Samsung brand
  • Work with agency partners to design and deploy hands-on experiences that deliver the key product USPs into consumer hands in ways that increase purchase intent and product consideration
  • Develop full-funnel programs that expand reach/scale beyond just physical activations (e.g. social extensions, CRM/owned media programs, partnership collabs, PR events)
  • Work with Sales teams to incorporate sales-driving mechanics and programs including on-site sales, offline sales and incentives to drive purchase
  • Coordinate contest prize inventory, prize sheets, prize fulfillment and release forms
  • Set up and break down audio equipment, promotional tents, hang banners and other staging elements
  • Interact with attendees at promotional events
  • Capture and recap promotional events via photos, video, audio, social media, etc
  • Track, analyze and report against marketing/Sales KPIs and metrics, and take corrective action where needed
  • Take a consultative role for multiple internal stakeholders – be a source of expertise in Activations and Experiences
  • Identify synergies between Activations/Experiences and our Carrier/Retail account teams and their specific needs (e.g. co-branded collabs)
  • Work closely with Finance to ensure all plans are within budget, and all approvals handled within compliance and guidelines
  • Ensure that the x-functional team across the organization is fully aware of which Partnerships are live and in progress. Develop best practice around information sharing and evangelizing

Skills and Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in marketing, communications or business management
  • 8+ years of experience in activations/events and marketing
  • Consummate collaborator committed to communication excellence
  • Experience working with technology platforms and internet brands
  • Existing connections and relationships with the world’s leading media & internet brands
  • Ability to think strategically about issues, leading to recommendations and action plans
  • Ability to think quickly and make decisions, sometimes without all the necessary information
  • Comfortable presenting at CxO level
  • Strong project/program management experience
