As an Editorial Intern for our Literacy content development team, you will use your educational background, in combination with on-the-job training, in the development process for innovative instructional materials for use in K-12 schools. The Intern will have manageable assignments on various English Language Arts and Reading programs to experience a variety of editorial tasks and contribute meaningfully to the development of K-12 educational materials.

Responsibilities: 

  • Correlate instructional content to state standards
  • Review digital reading texts and develop metadata 
  • Review manuscript from a vendor for quality, accuracy, and adherence to guidelines 
  • Participate in the development of content and assembly documents for digital shared content objects (SCOs) 
  • Review SCOs for quality and accuracy; follow Savvas Learning process for documenting defects 
  • Participate in the development of pagination logs 
  • Actively participate in meetings and informational presentations about the educational publishing process 

What We Are Looking For:

  • You are a current student enrolled in an undergraduate program from an accredited college or university, graduating after August 2026, studying Education, Literature, or Publishing
  • You can commit to a full-time role (40 hours per week) for eight weeks out of the summer
  • You’re enthusiastic about working in a hybrid environment, onsite a minimum of two days per week in our Northbrook, IL office
  • You’re proficient in software used during the product development process, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat 
  • You’re organized and manage time well 
  • You have an aptitude and desire to learn new software applications 
  • You’re a great communicator, verbally and in writing
  • You can multitask and set priorities, and you complete assigned tasks on schedule with the required level of quality  
  • You’re open to using constructive feedback to refine your skills, and you’re open to working collaboratively on a team
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.; our internship opportunities are not eligible for sponsorship
