Head of Tax

We are looking for an experienced senior-level tax professional to join and lead our fast-paced, high-performing tax department in our HQ location in Palo Alto, CA. The Head of Tax is a Director-level professional who will lead the global tax strategy, tax planning, tax accounting and tax compliance functions of our organization. The individual will be a key member of the Chief Accounting Officer’s organization. This is a great opportunity that will allow for career growth as the Company continues to scale!

 

What You Will Be Doing

  • Develop and implement tax strategies aligned with business goals and regulations
  • Conduct tax research and analysis to identify tax planning opportunities and mitigate risks
  • Analyze the tax implications of major business decisions, such as mergers, acquisitions, and new market entries
  • Collaborate with various internal departments (finance, legal, operations) and external advisors to ensure tax considerations are integrated into business decisions
  • Oversee the preparation and review of tax returns (federal, state, and international), ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Manage the tax provision process and ensure compliance with accounting standards (e.g., ASC 740)
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls over tax processes
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance tax efficiency and accuracy
  • Manage and develop direct reports and a global team, allocating resources effectively to meet departmental goals and deadlines

 

Qualifications

    • Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model that requires professionals to be in office at least 3 days per week
    • BS in Accounting or Masters in Tax, with CPA certification required
    • 15+ years of experience in tax planning, accounting & compliance
    • Extensive ASC 740 knowledge, and SEC reporting for income tax
    • Experience with international tax issues
    • Understanding of indirect tax concepts & filings 
    • People management experience required
    • Must be a team player and able to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment and comply with tight deadlines
    • Superior organization and verbal/communication skills

The minimum and maximum base salaries for this role are posted below; additionally, the role is eligible for bonus potential, equity and benefits. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the role based on U.S. location. Within the range, the salary offered will be determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

$217,800$305,100 USD
