- Machining development and CNC process knowledge
- Fabrication experience with large sheet metal and welded assemblies
- Knowledge of structural welding processes (GTAW, LBW)
- Design for Manufacture and tooling design experience
- Inspection, quality control and GD&T knowledge
- Ability to develop machine-shop workflows and capacity plans
- Experience with process improvement (Lean/Six Sigma concepts)
Responsibilities
- Act as DFM/DFM expert in design reviews for propulsion components and assemblies.
- Select, procure, install and commission machine-shop equipment; develop maintenance and calibration plans.
- Develop in-house machining capability for Archimedes components and enable rapid iteration cycles.
- Design, develop and implement production tooling and equipment to improve quality, delivery and cost.
- Lead continuous improvement and cost-reduction projects within the fabrication department.
- Collaborate across Rocket Lab machine shops to align capabilities and provide technical support.
- Prepare deliverables and technical updates for manufacturing leadership and stakeholders.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, manufacturing engineering or related discipline (required)
- Advanced engineering degree preferred
