Drafter
Overview
We are seeking a skilled Drafter with expertise in Chief Architect software to join our team. The Drafter will be responsible for creating detailed residential house plans, including layouts, elevations, sections, and 3D renderings. This role requires a keen eye for detail, an understanding of residential construction practices, and the ability to translate design concepts into accurate, buildable drawings.
Responsibilities
- Produce detailed residential house plans using Chief Architect software.
- Draft floor plans, elevations, roof plans, foundation plans, and construction details.
- Prepare accurate 3D models and renderings to support design visualization.
- Revise and update plans based on client, engineer, or builder feedback.
- Ensure drawings meet building codes, zoning regulations, and company standards.
- Collaborate with designers, architects, and project managers to refine design concepts.
- Maintain organized project files and documentation for easy reference.
- Provide technical support during the permitting and construction process.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Chief Architect (X-series versions preferred).
- Strong knowledge of residential construction methods, materials, and codes.
- Minimum 2 years of drafting experience in residential design.
- Ability to interpret sketches, notes, and markups into accurate technical drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team setting.
Preferred Skills
- Experience preparing permit-ready drawing sets.
- Familiarity with local building codes and energy efficiency requirements.
- Knowledge of construction administration processes.
- Ability to create presentation-quality renderings for clients.
