Responsibilities
- Lead aerodynamic and structural design of turbine stages and turbopump components for rocket engines.
- Perform and oversee LCF/HCF, transient thermal/aerodynamic, and forced-response analyses for rotating machinery.
- Define and validate rotor dynamics, balancing, interference fits, clearances, and structural proofing requirements.
- Integrate turbomachinery designs with manufacturing and test teams and support build, assembly, and test campaigns.
- Drive design reviews, set engineering standards, and mentor junior engineers on turbomachinery topics.
- Collaborate with systems, integration, and test to resolve issues discovered during test and flight development.
- Develop test plans, analyze test data, and iterate designs based on test outcomes.
- Document design rationale, analysis results, and verification evidence for program milestones.
Education
- Degree in engineering or related technical field (required)
- Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in relevant field preferred but not required
- 15+ years of relevant turbomachinery or aerospace engineering experience
