Principal Avionics Test Engineer

Relativity Space is pioneering rocket development with its Terran R vehicle, seeking a Principal Avionics Test Engineer to lead avionics test programs, collaborating across teams to ensure integration and performance of complex electrical systems.

Skills

  • Expertise in electrical or aerospace systems testing and verification.
  • Proficiency with environmental test standards (SMC-S-016, RCC-319, RCC-324, DO-160, MIL-STD-810).
  • Experience using environmental test equipment like thermal chambers, shaker tables, vacuum chambers.
  • Knowledge of software development tools such as Python and Git.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and complex test campaigns.

Responsibilities

  • Manage requirements and develop verification plans for avionics component and system-level testing.
  • Drive development of hardware components for testing such as simulators and data acquisition systems.
  • Develop software frameworks for test automation, data review, and configuration management.
  • Set technical strategies for functional, performance, and environmental testing across multiple test phases.
  • Lead vehicle-level integration, on-console operations, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Oversee electrical and software system validation using hardware-in-the-loop and related platforms.

Education

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
