Skills
- Hands-on lab experience assembling and running metallurgical/chemical test apparatus
- Experience in hydrometallurgical, pyrometallurgical, or electrochemical processes
- Ability to scope experiments and apply Design of Experiments (DoE) and statistical analysis
- Process modelling experience (e.g., HSCSIM, SysCAD, METSIM) linking testwork to pilot/commercial operations
- Familiarity with material characterization methods (XRD, XRF, ICP-OES/MS, SEM, PSA, TGA, GC)
- Knowledge of high-temperature thermal processes and equipment (kilns, smelters, off-gas systems)
- Strong problem-solving, technical communication, and cross-functional teamwork skills
Responsibilities
- Lead and execute R&D projects in hydrometallurgy, pyrometallurgy, electrochemistry and minerals processing to meet strategic objectives
- Define experimental plans, assemble test apparatus, and run metallurgical/chemical experiments in the lab and pilot settings
- Translate lab and pilot results into flowsheet conceptualization and process models for commercial implementation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, commission, and ramp new plants and equipment
- Support safe, efficient, and continuously improving laboratory operations alongside technicians
- Provide technical support to production operations and assist with pilot/commercial scale installation and commissioning
Education
- M.S. or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, or related discipline
- 2+ years of relevant industry or research experience in metallurgical/chemical process development
