This leader will move at the speed of industry, ensuring that Per Scholas can pivot to meet evolving employer needs, and move from ideation to implementation of fully developed training courses quickly.

Reporting to the President, the EVP will lead a growing team of instructional designers, technologists, and subject matter experts, while ensuring curricula aligns with labor market trends, employer needs, and the lived experiences of adult learners.

Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Strategy & Innovation

  • Lead the vision, development, and refinement of curriculum across core areas (IT, cloud, cybersecurity, software) and emerging fields (healthcare IT, clean tech, advanced manufacturing).
  • Build AI-enabled stackable, modular learning pathways that embed industry certifications and employer-validated competencies.
  • Drive innovation in curriculum formats including instructor-led, hybrid, and asynchronous learning, harnessing the power of AI as coach and instructor.

Subject Matter Expertise & Sector Expansion

  • Recruit, onboard, and manage a diverse bench of subject matter experts across technical disciplines and new sectors (e.g., healthcare IT, manufacturing, AI, clean energy).
  • Establish systems and advisory boards to ensure subject matter experts bring industry relevance, pedagogical alignment, and learner-centered design.
  • Lead go-to-market strategy for new courses and significant course updates, including collaborating across departments and campuses to achieve job attainment goals for all courses.
  • Stay abreast of trends and credentialing standards in adjacent industries to inform curriculum development and pilot offerings.

Pedagogical Excellence & Equity

  • Champion adult learning theory, project-based instruction, and culturally responsive pedagogy.
  • Ensure all curricula meet standards for accessibility, inclusivity, and skill applicability in real-world settings.
  • Incorporate employer feedback and learner outcomes into a cycle of continuous improvement.
  • Partner with the Instructional quality team to ensure that all instructors have the training, materials, and support they need to succeed.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing national team of curriculum designers, instructional technologists, and consultants.
  • Work cross-functionally with training operations, employer engagement, innovation, and impact teams to ensure curriculum quality and consistency across markets.
  • Engage directly with employers, funders, and advisory boards to co-design and validate training content.

Technology & Delivery Optimization

  • Oversee the effective use of learning management systems (LMS) and digital platforms to enhance curriculum delivery and learner experience.
  • Guide digital transformation of learning content and delivery, especially to support scale and flexibility.

Data, Impact & Fundraising Support

  • Partner with the Impact team to evaluate curriculum performance through KPIs such as certification attainment, job attainment, and learner satisfaction.
  • Provide content leadership for grant proposals, government contracts, and impact reports.
  • Articulate a curriculum design strategy to funders and stakeholders to support expansion into new sectors.

Qualifications:

  • 10-15+ years of leadership experience in curriculum design, instructional development, or workforce training, ideally in adult education or career/technical education.
  • Demonstrated success building holistic educational programs in both tech and adjacent sectors (e.g., healthcare, manufacturing, clean energy, logistics).
  • Experience in recruiting and managing diverse teams of remote and hybrid subject matter experts and instructional staff.
  • Experience in business development, external relations, or partnership management needed to lead a go-to-market strategy for new or updated courses.
  • Demonstrated expertise in instructional design, adult learning, competency-based education, and effective pedagogy for learners with diverse educational and professional backgrounds.
  • Strong understanding of workforce trends, credentialing frameworks, and employer skill needs.
  • Track record of managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects with measurable results, and creating and implementing processes and technology to increase efficiency.

Compensation & Benefits:
