We are looking for an Algorithm Scientist, Biosignal to join us to develop and validate the next generation of health sensing algorithms at Oura. The quality of the biosignals we acquire are fundamental to how we empower Oura members. You will be one of the key team members at Oura to drive high quality and consistency of our biosignals. 

What you will do: 

• Develop and maintain internal biosignal evaluation tools and libraries to help Oura’s electronics, mechanics, optics and FW teams optimize next generation products 
• Design and conduct studies to evaluate the signal quality of HW and FW prototypes and draw meaningful and actionable conclusions
• Contribute to the development and validation of front-end signal control and processing algorithms for Oura features/products
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams and communicate with stakeholders across the globe

We would love to have you on our team if you have:

• Have a PhD in biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, neural engineering, biostatistics, computer science or a related field, OR a Master degree in related fields with 3+ years of relevant work experience
• 3+ years of solid programming skills in Python and experience with code collaboration tools (git, peer review, etc)
• Experience with signal processing methods and time-series analysis (FIR/IIR filters, Kalman filtering, adaptive filtering, stochastic processes, etc) 
• Experience with biosignal sensing and wearable hardware (including hardware prototypes) is a plus
• A pragmatic can-do attitude and delivery-focused mindset: you can move quickly and prioritize effectively
• Flexible schedule and good asynchronous communication skills to work with Oura’s Finnish teams (early morning meetings two to three times a week)
• This role is based in San Diego, with at least three days in office (at our Carmel Mountain location).

Oura takes a market-based approach to pay, which may vary depending on your location. US locations are categorized into tiers based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. While most offers will be closer to the starting range, successful candidates' pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, internal peer equity, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
