Department of Revenue is recruiting for a Communications Director – Communications Manager 2 position. This position is headquartered in our Salem office; however, the successful candidate may be eligible for in-state hybrid work. Hybrid work consists of performing duties onsite in a standard office environment and working remotely.
In order to be considered for Department of Revenue recruitments, you must reside within the state of Oregon. Current Revenue employees who live outside of Oregon may apply and will be considered.
What You Will Be Doing

Advises the director, Revenue Leadership Team, division administrators, program managers, and others on communications strategies including public relations, news media relations, information and education programs, internal and external outreach and engagement, public involvement strategies, employee communications programs, social media interactions, etc., consistent with the agency’s mission.
Directs, develops, and implements internal and external communications efforts involving sensitive Department of Revenue issues and crises, working closely with Department of Revenue's director, senior managers, the Governor's Office, other state agencies, county officials, and others. Makes high-profile decisions in short time frames about complicated and controversial subject-matter and implements appropriate communications strategies and tactics.
Manages a team of professional communicators. Assigns work, develops work plans and procedures, establishes work schedules and monitors work performed by staff to meet agreed-upon goals, objectives, and deadlines. Develops agency-wide communications work plans and budget. Interviews, hires, and evaluates staff performance.

The salary listed is the non-PERS qualifying salary range. If the successful candidate is PERS qualifying, the salary range will reflect the additional 6.95%.
