Project Structural Engineer - Building Design

Olsson is an employee-owned engineering and design firm delivering facility and building structural engineering for commercial, healthcare, education, data center, and military projects. The Facility Engineering and Design team is seeking a Project Structural Engineer with strong technical skills, a Professional Engineer license, and 6+ years of experience to design structural systems, perform analysis, collaborate across disciplines, and help deliver high-quality projects for diverse clients.

Skills

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required
  • Experience with structural analysis and design for steel, concrete, and wood structures
  • Proficiency with structural design and drafting software (Revit preferred, AutoCAD common)
  • Ability to read and produce construction documents and specifications
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for multidisciplinary collaboration
  • Project management and time-management skills to meet deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop structural components and systems for facility projects following codes and client requirements
  • Perform structural analysis and prepare engineering calculations and technical reports
  • Coordinate structural designs with architects, MEP, and other project teams
  • Produce and review construction documents, drawings, and specifications
  • Participate in project meetings and present technical recommendations to clients and stakeholders
  • Manage project schedules, deliverables, and coordinate resources to meet milestones
  • Provide engineering support during construction and respond to RFI/ASIs as needed
  • Stay current with industry codes, standards, and best practices and apply innovative solutions

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or architectural engineering with structural emphasis
  • Degree from an ABET-accredited program preferred
  • Master's degree in structural engineering is a plus (preferred, not required)
