Sr Account Manager, Institutional Trust

Northern Trust’s national practice serves foundations, endowments and other nonprofit institutional investors as either a dedicated investment advisor or as a fully outsourced chief investment officer (OCIO). We provide holistic solutions that combine sophisticated advisory expertise with a spectrum of value-added services.

Role Expectations

1. Supports administration of institutional clients including managed and custody only agency and trust accounts.

2. Acts as a technical resource or expert for other account administrators on process or procedures for delivery of services.

3. Anticipates and identifies clients' needs for operational/system requests. Integrates knowledge of organization to service clients.

4. Obtains appropriate documentation and ensures systems information is up to date.

5. Receives service requests from clients and partners, executes daily client activity, oversees transaction processing, and handles inquiry resolution.

6. Coordinates with servicing team on execution of client activity, communicating with client and vendors when appropriate.

7. Ensures accurate new account set up and timely closing of accounts, when appropriate.

8. Identifies service efficiency enhancements, process improvements, and facilitates service delivery using creative and proactive measures.

9. Monitors trust operations and accounting activities to ensure all needed reports, documents, and case resolutions are handled in a timely manner.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of institutional trust operations and accounting systems usually acquired through related experience is necessary to administer complex master trust and custody accounts.

  • General business and accounting knowledge, usually acquired through coursework, is required to oversee client transactions.

  • Analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills are required to identify and resolve account issues.

  • 4 – 8+ years’ experience in client servicing background, with 2-3 years’ experience in an institutional trust environment.

  • A College or University degree is highly valued

This is an office-based position and for the effective performance of this role, the duties and responsibilities must be carried out onsite.
