We are looking for you to join our team as a Principal Embedded Software Engineer based out of Linthicum, MD (BWI).
This position is primarily engaged in the development and fielding of Electronic Surveillance and/or Electronic Attack systems for advanced dedicated and multi-function RF subsystems. This includes design, development and integration of software solutions for EW systems. Additionally, the candidate will collaborate closely with systems, firmware and front-end software teams in a fast-moving, development environment. Candidates will work on software systems in all phases of the software development lifecycle, primarily in C/C++.
Basic Qualifications for Principal Engineer Embedded Software:
Bachelor’s Degree with X years of experience, master’s degree with X years of experience, Ph.D. with X years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or related technical fields; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
U.S. Citizenship is required.
A current/active DoD Secret clearance.
Ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP) prior to start.
5 years of demonstrated experience in the following areas:
C and C++
Object Oriented programming.
All areas of the formal software lifecycle process from requirements to testing
Integrating low-level firmware and software in complex real-time multi-threaded embedded applications
Experience using Jira/Bitbucket/Git and the Agile software development process
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated history of development of EW software and successful team engagement
Experience with TCP/IP and common network configurations
Experience with development of front-end software for multifunction RF systems
Experience with digital transformation initiatives, maintaining/supporting integrated models in a live environment
Familiarity with Linux kernel driver development/modifications
Familiarity with VHDL/Verilog/FPGA
Familiarity with Xilinx tools (Vitis, Vivado)
Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodology
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Atlassian tools
Familiarity with Static Analysis and Unit Testing

Salary Range: $124,000.00 - $186,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
