The Role

We’re seeking a full-stack Software Engineer to design and scale the front and back ends of the systems that power our platform. On the front-end you’ll be pivotal in building a first-class user experience with smooth workflows and transitions. On the back-end you’ll build core services, integrations, and APIs that connect practices, pet parents, and our internal tools.

As one of our early engineers, you’ll have the chance to shape Nest’s architecture, make critical technical decisions, and see your work directly improve the way veterinary care is delivered.

What You’ll Do

• Develop Next.js/React based front-ends

• Build and maintain backend services in Python using FastAPI and gRPC

• Develop integrations with third-party APIs and systems to expand product features

• Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code supported by tests

• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Data teams to deliver end-to-end solutions

• Proactively identify and resolve technical challenges in a fast-moving environment

• Bring an ownership mentality: improve processes, troubleshoot issues, and propose new solutions

What We’re Looking For

You might be a great fit if:

• You bring 3–5+ years of professional software engineering experience

• You are fluent in TypeScript and familiar with React, Next.js, and associated tools and libraries

• You’re fluent in Python and familiar with frameworks like FastAPI or gRPC

• You have experience with SQL and relational databases

• You know Docker and container-based deployment

• You’re a strong communicator and comfortable working independently

Bonus points if:

• You’ve worked with Google Cloud Platform (Cloud Run, Cloud Tasks, Spanner, Cloud Build)

• You have experience with test automation and strong testing practices

• You’ve built or integrated payment systems (e.g. Stripe)

• You’ve thrived in an early-stage startup environment
