IT Info - Internship

Salary: $20

As part of NBT’s Internship Program currently enrolled college students have the opportunity to explore various departments within NBT Banks IT department. Interns will gain practical experience, work on meaningful projects, and learn from experienced professionals in a variety of fields.


IT Intern

• Document Identity Access processes within Microsoft Word
• Assist with Patch Management for Network
• Help with software testing, data backup, and cybersecurity initiatives.

Education and Experience:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Management Information Systems, Computer science, or related field. 
  • Strong academic record, minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred
  • Prior work and volunteer experience desired. 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and willing to take on challenges. 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, accounting software, Workday, etc. with the ability to create spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations and Word documents.
  • Demonstrated collaboration skills. 
  • Travel within or between locations. 
  • Valid driver’s license. 

Tasks Performed:

  • 40% Assisting with daily tasks.  
  • 20% Project support – collaborating on team projects, assisting with ongoing projects by providing research, creating reports, and/or supporting team members. Contributing ideas during brainstorming sessions or team meetings. Preparing presentations by creating slides, reports, or any materials for internal presentations. 
  • 20% Learning and Development – shadowing professionals through observation of full-time employees to understand work process. Attend training sessions and participate in workshops and learning new tools and systems. 
  • 15% Special Assignments.  
  • 5% Other duties as assigned. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Communicate effectively with internal and/or external customers
  • Stationary 75% of time or greater
  • Move Objects to Maximum 10 lbs
