Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

Join NBCUniversal’s Enterprise Product SAP S/4 Core Finance and Source to Pay Team and help drive our Finance Transformation as part of Project Keystone. We are seeking a Sr Systems Analyst to lead the coordination, delivery, and support of applications and technology adjacent to NBCU’s SAP ERP system.  This role will support Custom off the Shelf (COTS), Software as a Service (SAAS), and Enterprise Financial Systems.  

Key responsibility includes leading the coordination, delivery, and support of Income (1099) Reporting and state tax withholding processes across the enterprise. This is a critical IT-facing role, ensuring timely and accurate tax reporting by partnering with business units, Corporate Tax, Corporate Finance, vendors, and tax service providers.

As the primary liaison between IT, Finance, and external partners, overseeing the successful integration and execution of income reporting activities, including collaboration with Indirect Tax Engines such as Vertex, OneSource, Electronic Sovos Taxport and Sovos Managed Services. The role ensures seamless data flow, system reliability, and compliance with IRS, state (e.g., CA FTB), and international requirements. We’re looking for a self-starter, agile team player who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, with a strong foundation in finance operations and transactional tax as a foundation to support enterprise technologies combined with experience in enterprise systems (you’ll help shape and improve the automation of our tax information reporting processes, ensuring high-quality data management and reporting accuracy.

The role will also manage a portfolio of finance-related applications spanning workstreams such as Tax, Procure-to-Pay (PTP), Order-to-Cash (OTC), and Treasury. This includes supporting infrastructure and administration needs from SAML/SSL certificate updates, user access governance, and system troubleshooting, to maintaining business continuity documentation, and coordinating disaster recovery testing. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented problem-solver with strong cross-functional collaboration skills and a deep understanding of enterprise finance systems

Responsible for application software, support, and development for enterprise, custom and COTS technologies. The Sr. Systems Analyst will work closely with corporate stakeholders such as Procurement, Accounts Payable, Corporate Tax, Legal, HR, Order to Cash and subject matter experts to understand business requirements and develop a deep understanding of NBCU’s tax processes. This role will represent IT on cross-functional project teams, working closely with our Product and Engineering Teams to implement creative, best-in-class solutions that will improve the automation of existing processes and ensure data integrity.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of financial accounting and tax processes.

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the end-to-end coordination of income reporting operations across business units (1099, 1042, state withholding)  
  • Oversee data preparation, validation, and submission of income and withholding tax forms to the IRS, state agencies, and other authorities
  • Maintain and reconcile large datasets to identify anomalies and ensure reporting integrity and find areas of improvement
  • Stay current on IRS tax requirements and changes at the Federal and State level for 1099’s, 945, 1042, 1042-S, 3921, ICR, and other required tax forms and reporting
  • Manage the integration between SAP and indirect tax engine such as Sovos Taxport to ensure accurate data imports and timely transmittals
  • Work cross-functionally with Finance, Accounts Payable, and business stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate reporting of tax-relevant transactions
  • Manage various aspects of the tax life cycle including quarterly financial closes, return-to-provision, tax form corrections, monthly ICR reporting, quarterly state reporting, state tax withholding, and annual IRS tax filings for 1099’s and other required federal and state tax forms
  • Identify and implement technology-driven process improvements that enhance data quality, accuracy, and efficiency including future state solutions in S/4HANA and integrated tax systems
  • Evaluate business processes and identify information needs; design and implement computer-based processing systems that meet those needs
  • Support the development and maintenance of tax software and related documentation and processes (UAT, UAR, SOPs, DR testing, SOPs, SOX reviews)
  • Translate complex business requirements into scalable, practice solutions within S/4HANA and supported applications.
  • System management: Design, develop, and test automated reporting solutions to ensure accurate and efficient tax reporting.
  • Perform and update SAP configuration for Tax related updates. Manage a portfolio of enterprise applications supporting Tax, PTP, OTC, and Treasury workstreams by overseeing system administration, infrastructure support, and operational continuity
  • Perform system tasks including SAML/SSL certificate management, troubleshooting and resolving system issues, and managing user access and governance
  • Maintain business continuity planning documentation and lead disaster recovery (DR) testing cycles for supported systems
  • Design and implement computer systems to support evolving operational needs and improve efficiency across the supported application portfolio
  • Evaluate business processes and anticipate requirements, uncovering areas for improvement and implementing solutions by engaging with business partners at enterprise and division level
  • Collaborate with vendors to ensure products, services, and supportability are optimized and aligned with business needs and IT standards
  • Investigate and resolve production issues in a timely manner, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations
  • Ensure effective management of assigned deliveries through detailed planning, clear communication of risks/issues, and proactive escalation when needed
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of system design, configurations, and enhancements for audit and change management purposes.
  • Additional assignments as assigned.

 

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Accounting, Business, or related field
  • 5+ years’ experience supporting in finance systems, with emphasis on tax reporting, or IT business and systems analysis ideally within media, tech, or large enterprises
  • 5+ years experience in a role demonstrating strong technical, quantitative, and analytical skills
  • Extensive experience with implementing and supporting indirect tax engines like Vertex, Thomson Reuters OneSource, or Sovos Taxport.
  • Experience in Accounts Payable, income tax reporting, and tax form processing (1099, 1042, CA 592-B) desired
  • Preferred experience in a Functional analyst role and configuration in SAP S/4 Hana for one or more of the following areas Finance, Accounts Payable and TAX 
  • Skilled at working with and reconciling large financial datasets
  • Experience leading business requirements gathering and translating those into system requirements and facilitating business process design
  • Good understanding of Accounting and Finance fundamentals
  • Preferred experience in Accounts Payable, income tax reporting, and tax form processing (1099, 1042, CA 592-B)
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to interface effectively with stakeholders across Finance, IT, and vendors
  • Proven self-starter with strong organizational and analytical capabilities; able to work independently and prioritize in fast-paced environments
  • Experience with project management methodologies (Agile/Waterfall), SDLC, and change management principles
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Advance Excel; experience with Visio or Project a plus.
  • Ability to create presentations at detailed or executive level
  • AI experience in implementing Tax automations projects a plus
  • Strong desire to learn and implement technological solutions
  • Courage to explore unfamiliar territory. Demonstrates curiosity to learn. Self-starter to work independently, with strong organizational and flexibility skills in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective work relationships with co-workers, clients, members, providers, and customers
  • Willingness to work off business hours and weekends as needed in a demanding environment when special projects are due or to meet tax deadlines

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PMP or other professional project management certification
  • Experience using integration tools: Gentran Integration Suite (GIS)/Sterling Integrator, Tibco, Informatica, SAP Cloud Integration, SAP API Gateway
  • Experience with SAP BTP and Clean Core Concepts, Fiori apps, or embedded analytics
  • SAP ERP or equivalent ERP experience
  • Experience in supporting Tax platforms, SAAS products
  • Experience implementing financial processes and systems
  • Experience using systems designed to manage projects, issues, changes and testing (e.g. ServiceNow, Jira, Smartsheet, HPALM, Worksoft)

Additional Requirements:

  • Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
  • The candidate must live within a commutable distance from one of the following designated NBCUniversal offices – NY, NY; Universal City, CA
