As a Software Engineer I you will be part of our cloud data engineering team responsible for developing, monitoring, and operating our state-of-the-art data mart platform. In addition, you will be responsible for leveraging cloud native tooling to automate operational tasks and integrate the data mart platform with external systems. You will be responsible for optimizing performance, efficiency and cost to provide best in class value for the Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) business and customers. This position will participate in an on-call rotation to ensure platform uptime.

This position is in Mounds View, MN. within the Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) Operating Unit. At Medtronic, we bring bold ideas forward with speed and decisiveness to put patients first in everything we do. In-person exchanges are invaluable to our work. We are working on-site 4 days per week as part of our commitment to fostering a culture of professional growth and cross-functional collaboration as we work together to engineer the extraordinary. This role will require less than 10% of travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects.

A DAY IN THE LIFE:

In general, the following responsibilities apply for the Software Engineer I role. This includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • Complete assigned tasks within established deadlines
  • Design and deploy CI/CD pipelines
  • Design proactive monitoring and alerting
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in accordance to SLA
  • Mentor assigned junior engineers focusing on project support and skill development


 

Qualifications-

MUST HAVE - MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS ROLE, PLEASE BE SURE THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS ARE EVIDENT ON YOUR RESUME

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or technical field.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in a regulated environment, preferably medical device
  • Demonstrated experience working with CI/CD tools
  • AWS certifications
  • Demonstrated experience in AWS and AWS native tools (some examples are Glue, Lambda, EMR, Athena, Data Lake Formation)
  • Worked in a scrum methodology
  • Ability to take business requirements and work independently to deliver solutions using industry best-practice
  • Strong security and data-privacy mindset
  • Experience in Cloud native tools
  • 2+ Python development experience (or similar scripting language)
  • Git experience
  • Demonstrated experience automating routine tasks
  • On call support experience
  • Other duties as assigned

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$74,400.00 - $111,600.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

 

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).

 

Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns.  Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Please note some of the above benefits may not apply to workers in Puerto Rico.
