Lead UX Researcher, Growth

Hinge is the dating app designed to be deleted

In today's digital world, finding genuine relationships is tougher than ever. At Hinge, we’re on a mission to inspire intimate connection to create a less lonely world. We’re obsessed with understanding our users’ behaviors to help them find love, and our success is defined by one simple metric– setting up great dates. With millions of users across the globe, we’ve become the most trusted way to find a relationship, for all.

About the role

Hinge is hiring a Lead UX Researcher to improve user experiences on Hinge around the globe and champion inclusive, data-driven innovation across our product groups. In this role, you’ll explore how daters around the world find and form meaningful connections—both by driving growth through new markets and audiences, and by ensuring our platform enables fair, equitable, and accessible experiences for everyone. You’ll lead mixed-methods research that combines qualitative and quantitative insights to guide product development and ensure our app is a trusted way to find a relationship, for all.

Responsibilities
  • Lead research strategy: Build and drive the research roadmap for Growth product teams, ensuring that research informs product decision making and drives product strategy.
  • Develop and execute end-to-end research: Conduct end-to-end research using appropriate methods that range from strategic to iterative and evaluative to help the team achieve goals.
  • Growth experience: including research into international expansion, monetization and/or merchandising.
  • Building inclusive products: Experience thinking through different audiences’ needs, pain points and behaviors, including working with accessibility needs in mind.
  • Being a strategic cross-functional partner: Work in close collaboration with other researchers and  cross-functional partners (i.e., product managers, designers, data scientists, customer experience, marketing and brand strategy) to identify key research questions and prioritize projects in the short and long term.
  • Deliver high-impact insights at velocity: Generate actionable insights that help teams make decisions and build momentum towards our mission.
  • Champion culture and clarity: Model honest, empathetic communication and help cross-functional partners navigate ambiguity with confidence and care.

What We're Looking For
  • 6+ years of user research experience, including 2-3 years of experience in a consumer-facing product research role.
  • Experience with international research in non-US markets
  • Experience working on monetization, subscriptions or new revenue streams or zero-to-one products.
  • Possess strong quantitative (e.g., survey, experimental) skills and expertise with developing frameworks for model measurement.)
  • Strong communicator, committed to telling clear and compelling stories with data.
  • Proficient in data manipulation, analysis, and dashboard creation with R, Python, SPSS, and/or Looker (or similar statistical software.)
  • Proactive at building and sustaining trusting, successful relationships with cross-functional partners (e.g. data science, customer experience, product management, design, engineering, and marketing.)
  • Eager to learn from, collaborate with, and mentor other researchers.
  • Passion for inclusive and accessible design and strategy
  • Champions team culture in authentic, courageous, and empathic ways.
