Director of School Supports

Overview

Reporting to the Chief of School Supports,  the Director of School Supports provides capacity-building support to all charter public schools in Massachusetts by managing high-impact professional learning and strategic initiatives that address sector-wide challenges. The Director brings school leaders together from across Massachusetts to share best practices, tackle common challenges, and build collective solutions that strengthen school quality and long-term sustainability. In addition, the Director coordinates regional networks of schools, partnering with regional school leaders and MCPSA staff to drive key initiatives that improve collaboration and support student success. Through this work, the Director deepens collaboration across schools, enhances access to critical supports, creates high quality tools, systems, and processes to address member needs, and helps support the long-term success of charter public schools across the Commonwealth. 

Responsibilities

  • Partner with regional school leaders to project manage initiatives from ideation through completion, including developing tools and systems to meet member needs, and organizing, planning, scheduling, facilitating, and documenting regular Alliance and subcommittee meetings.
  • Plan and execute all statewide Community of Practice professional development meetings.
  • Collaborate with the Public Affairs team to support regional advocacy objectives as needed.
  • Implement high-priority strategic initiatives in collaboration with consultants and school leaders, including strengthening school enrollment and fundraising systems and updating and enhancing operational guides.
  • Manage peer-to-peer listserv facilitation.
  • Project manage and implement special projects connected to Regional Alliances and Communities of Practice, such as the annual compensation survey and the Boston Charter Application.
  • Assume responsibility for and implement improvements to the MCPSA Knowledge Center.
  • Provide technical support to leaders and school staff engaged by the statewide Community of Practice programs, in partnership with the Chief of School Supports.
  • All other projects, activities, and tasks as assigned by the Chief of School Supports. 
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience and a track record in program management and collaboration, preferably in a K-12 charter public school setting in Massachusetts.
  • Passion for MCPSA’s mission and an unwavering commitment to educational equality.
  • Deep knowledge about K-12 education practice, essential components of high-performing charter public schools, and best finance and operational practices.
  • Skilled at data analysis to inform programmatic decisions within the context of a school.
  • Capacity or experience in providing support to programs with multiple sites, preferably in a K-12 charter public school setting, and the ability to manage external partners involved with the implementation of such programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with school leaders, consultants, and other key stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with and/or established relationships with Massachusetts charter public schools/leaders. 
  • Energetic, flexible, self-motivated, collaborative, and proactive.
  • Exceptional time management and project management skills, unwavering attention to detail, and a proven track record of successfully working in a virtual environment with limited direct supervision.
  • Skilled at building collaboration among stakeholders with unique needs and goals
  • Ability to work independently in a virtual environment requiring proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Docs, data management programs, and quick mastery and utilization of other online communication and project management tools.
  • Ability to travel in-state to establish relationships with charter public school leaders and staff across the state.

  • Salary: The anticipated salary range for this role is $95,000 - $110,000. In addition, all MCPSA staff are eligible for an up to 6% organization-wide annual bonus.

Additional Details

MCPSA is a virtual organization, with team members working remotely. This position requires frequent travel throughout Massachusetts, and candidates must possess a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle. Residence within Massachusetts, and/or within 75 miles from the organization's main office in Hudson, MA, is strongly preferred.
