About the Role
Mariana Minerals is looking for an experienced Procurement Manager to lead the team responsible for indirect and direct purchasing. This leader will not only manage procurement activities but also build and implement procurement systems from the ground up, develop and execute a comprehensive purchasing strategy, and design cost avoidance initiatives to ensure long-term financial efficiency. The Procurement Manager will collaborate with regional and global resources to ensure optimal buying efficiencies and support corporate objectives for achieving targeted profitability for our new projects.
Responsibilities will include:
Lead the purchasing for services, capital equipment, and construction services.
Build and optimize procurement systems, tools, and processes to support scalable operations.
Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing procurement team.
Develop and implement purchasing strategies that align with corporate objectives and project goals.
Design and execute a cost avoidance strategy, including supplier negotiations, alternative sourcing, and value engineering opportunities.
Collaborate with internal teams to develop tactical and operational plans for the procurement of consumables and specialty materials required for all applications and product development.
Review and analyze activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to assess progress toward project team business, financial, and schedule goals.
Coordinate activities with contractors, suppliers, and vendors, including contract management and negotiations, RFP management and negotiations, change order management, schedule adherence, developing bidder’s lists, bid leveling, and creating/managing Purchase Requests and Purchase Orders.
Make and/or execute decisions on project purchases in alignment with company policies and strategic priorities.
Oversee and coordinate development activities between suppliers and internal development teams to ensure sourcing and procurement are aligned with corporate directives.
Travel as required at company expense.
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and/or relevant work experience.
5–7 years in Supply Chain, Purchasing, Procurement, or Construction, with at least 2–3 years of leadership experience.
Demonstrated experience in building procurement systems and processes from scratch.
Strong background in purchasing strategy development and cost avoidance initiatives.
Strong analytical and Excel modeling skills.
Experience in sourcing services, consumables, capital equipment, and/or commodities.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, actively prioritize, and multi-task.
Desire to learn and grow within the procurement function.
