Marketing Intern (Paid)

Hair-obsessed beauty-lover looking to break into the world of marketing? Mane by Jen Atkin is looking to hire a paid intern as part of our marketing team! Gain exposure alongside industry vets and grow your network as you kick-off your beauty career. 

This role has the unique opportunity to get hands-on, multi-functional experience across the entire scope of marketing—Brand Marketing, Social Media, Retail Marketing, Communications, Experiential, and Influencer Marketing. Pending headcount, this role has the potential to be hired full-time at the end of the internship period.

You Are:

  • Currently studying a relevant field at a university/design school -OR- are a recent grad looking for relevant work experience
  • Interested in a career in Marketing, Digital, Communications, or a related field
  • A local LA resident
  • Comfy working in a hybrid WFH/in-office (Mid-Wilshire) schedule
  • Committed to at least 20 hours per week, during the fall semester 
  • Able to come into our Mid-Wilshire office 2-3 days per week

Your Role:

Learn and perform brand & product marketing tasks like:

  • Assist in building out campaign decks
  • Deliver copy/artwork briefs & assets in project management tool
  • Ensure cross-departmental timeline alignment, while coordinating brand & product deliverables
  • Monitor and analyze current marketing trends across relevant beauty industries (haircare, skincare, make-up)
  • Share insightful observations on emerging trends with the marketing team
  • Track competitor activities, including new product launches and marketing campaigns
  • Assist in compiling regular reports on competitor strategies and market developments

Work closely with the social & influencer marketing teams with tasks like:

  • Brainstorm & create content to populate daily calendars
  • Engage with and grow online communities
  • Perform proactive creator outreach
  • Manage, track and organize contact databases, lists and dedicated inboxes
  • Ideate creative mailers & influencer gifting opportunities
  • Plan local creator events, etc.

Assist in experiential marketing planning and execution for VIP & consumer events (even attend!)

Work with the digital marketing team to build out email flows, update our DTC site, write blog articles, and enhance our digital flagship store of HeyMane.com

Manage marketing inventory—both in-office and through our warehouse—and place orders to fulfill

Support the cross-functional Mane teams as needed across office administration, brand marketing, integrated marketing, influencer marketing, brand communications & PR, social media, digital marketing, and creative

Your Qualities:

  • Knowledgeable and obsessed re: hair (even hands-on internship or retail experience is a plus!)
  • You’re hands-on, solution-oriented, analytical + creative, and a great relationship builder
  • Strong communicator – both verbal & written
  • Stellar at stylin’ spreadsheets and doin’ decks
  • Able to navigate start-up vibes
  • A juggler amongst multiple projects while maintaining a clear sense of priorities
  • 1-year related experience a plus – can be from internships, working in retail, etc.
