The Geospatial DBA will provide infrastructure and database administration support for NOAA’s Office of Coast Survey. You will maintain, optimize, and secure geospatial databases and cloud environments that power NOAA’s charting and geospatial services.

Responsibilities

Duties of the Geospatial Database Administrator will include the following: 

  • Administer geospatial databases (PostgreSQL/PostGIS, Oracle Spatial). 
  • Support containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes). 
  • Optimize database performance and automate maintenance tasks. 
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines for geospatial data services. 
  • Ensure compliance with NOAA IT security requirements. 

Qualifications

The Ideal Geospatial Database Administrator will have the following: 

  • BS/BA in Computer Science, IT, or related field
  • 10+ years of related experience. 
  • Proven expertise in database administration for geospatial systems. 
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud services and Linux environments. 
  • Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD. 
  • Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills.
