- Current RN licensure in Maryland (or medical school graduate where applicable)

Responsibilities
- Conduct daily bedside lactation rounds and consult with breastfeeding mothers and families
- Assess patients/families to identify learning needs and clinical priorities
- Develop and individualize breastfeeding plans of care and set mutually agreed goals
- Continuously evaluate and revise lactation care plans based on patient response
- Provide patient and family education and counseling using evidence-based approaches
- Plan, organize and deliver lactation services both inpatient and outpatient
- Oversee breast pump rentals and retail sales within lactation services
- Plan and conduct in-service education and orientation for staff and students
- Participate in unit governance, interdisciplinary communication, and decision-making
- Participate in quality assurance programs and oversee financial performance of lactation services
Education
- Registered Nurse licensure by Maryland Board of Nursing or current graduate of medical school
- International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBCLC) certification
- Current CPR certification
