About the role:

Application engineers at Lumafield are experts in our industries and/or our product features. They work closely with the engineering, product, and research teams to understand what our products are capable of and communicate and configure those features successfully for customers. An Application Engineer begins by bringing a solid foundation in engineering and industry experience, then excels by diving head-first into our product portfolio and quickly becoming the internal Lumafield expert in their vertical. Forward-deployed engineers spend most of their time in our offices building their skills and mastering our products, but will also spend significant time on customer calls and at customer facilities to ensure that our customers can achieve their goals with our products.


If you love solving some of the hardest problems in manufacturing and product design, working with customers, and learning new skills and technologies, this role is for you!


What you'll do:
  • Specialize in understanding how to develop and deliver computer vision and machine learning solutions atop Lumafield’s products for our customers
  • Consult regularly in pre-sales contexts to advise Account Executives and Application Engineers as to the scope and possibilities of Lumafield’s computer vision and machine learning solutions
  • Work closely with product, engineering, and research teams to build expertise
  • Quickly become the Lumafield expert and point person for Lumafield’s machin learning and computer vision solutions
  • Own post-sales training, tuning and delivery of machine learning and computer vision solutions
  • Ship new algorithms and updates to Lumafield’s Voyager software which extend or enhance our computer vision and machine learning capabilities
  • Spend most of your time in our Lumafield San Francisco office (80% of time, on average) while also regularly traveling to customers to support their missions (20% of time, on average).


About you:
  • Bring experience or passion for the specialization in this job posting
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in a software development or technical pre-sales role
  • Experience with common computer vision and machine learning algorithms/problems – segmentation, classification, object detection, anomaly detection, etc.
  • Strong Python software development skills – OOP, git, unit testing + integration testing, deployment.
  • Strong desire to learn more about adjacent engineering disciplines and drive to take advantage of this opportunity to build your skill


Bonus points for:
  • 3D machine learning experience
  • CT experience
  • Metrology experience
  • Software Development experience


$120,000 - $140,000 a year
