Senior Mobile Engineer II, Maps Framework
Skills
- 6+ years software development experience with strong mobile background
- 2+ years of hands-on mobile mapping experience (Map SDKs, data layers, rendering)
- Deep understanding of map ecosystems, geospatial data layers, and related performance tradeoffs
- Proficiency with mobile platforms and languages (iOS/Swift, Android/Kotlin) and mobile SDK integration
- Experience with mapping SDKs (Mapbox, Google Maps, or similar) and location services
- Familiarity with graphics programming or game development is a strong plus
- Experience working at scale in B2C mobile products and collaborating with cross-functional teams
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and iterate on a unified maps framework for Life360's mobile applications
- Own foundational mapping layers and their integration into iOS and Android apps
- Collaborate closely with product, design, and motion designers to deliver polished mapping experiences
- Drive adoption of the framework by educating and supporting internal engineering teams
- Partner with architecture groups to define long-term technical direction and ensure alignment
- Improve performance, modularity, and scalability of map components to support high-velocity mobile development
- Mentor peers, conduct design reviews, and help define best practices for mobile mapping codebases
- Prototype and potentially build tooling (e.g., a real-time map editor) to accelerate iteration with design
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience
