Lazer Commerce is a specialized team within Lazer focused on crafting scalable, high-performing commerce experiences across the Shopify ecosystem. We partner with forward-thinking brands and agencies to design and implement custom storefronts, headless architectures, and robust backend integrations. From theme development to complex ERP and OMS workflows, our engineers bring deep expertise in Shopify, modern frameworks, and commerce infrastructure to help clients launch, scale, and optimize their digital retail experiences.

Job Summary

We're looking for a Senior Shopify Developer who's passionate about teaching and creating world-class educational content for the Shopify developer community. This is a unique role that combines hands-on Shopify development expertise with content creation—building courses, tutorials, and documentation that help other developers master Shopify's ecosystem.

The Role:

This is primarily a content creation role (70%) with hands-on development work (30%). You'll leverage your real-world Shopify experience to create engaging, practical learning materials that developers actually want to learn from.

What You'll Do:

Content Creation (Primary Focus):

• Create comprehensive video courses and tutorials on Shopify development topics (Liquid, Apps, POS API, Retail tech)

• Write detailed technical documentation, guides, and blog posts for developer audiences

• Develop code examples, starter templates, and reference implementations

• Break down complex Shopify concepts into clear, digestible learning modules

• Stay current with Shopify's platform updates and translate new features into educational content

• Build a library of reusable learning content across video and written formats

• Engage with the developer community through content feedback and iteration

Hands-On Development (Supporting Focus):

• Build working Shopify apps and themes to use as teaching examples

• Develop proof-of-concept implementations for POS API and retail tech integrations

• Create real-world code samples that demonstrate best practices

• Test and validate technical approaches before turning them into learning content

• Maintain and update existing educational code repositories
  

You Bring:

Required Technical Skills:

• Strong hands-on experience with Shopify Liquid theme development

• Proven experience building Shopify apps (public and/or private apps)

• Knowledge of Shopify POS API and retail tech integrations

• Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Node.js

• Experience with Shopify Admin API and Storefront API

• Understanding of Shopify's architecture, webhooks, and authentication patterns

• Familiarity with modern frameworks (Next.js, Remix)

Required Content Creation Skills:

• Proven experience creating technical educational content (courses, tutorials, documentation)

• Strong technical writing skills with ability to explain complex concepts clearly

• Experience with video production and editing (screen recording, voiceover, post-production)

• Ability to structure learning paths and curriculum design

• Understanding of what makes content engaging for technical audiences

• Portfolio of published technical content (courses, blog posts, documentation, YouTube videos, etc.)

Nice to Have:

• Published courses on platforms like Udemy, Pluralsight, or similar

• Active technical blog or YouTube channel

• Experience with learning management systems

• Previous experience as a technical trainer or educator

• Community presence in Shopify developer circles

• Experience with Shopify Plus features and enterprise implementations
