Afterschool STEM Instructor + Tutor (K-8, Queens, Fall '25)

Launch provides inspiring afterschool programs by merging innovative curriculum with an engaging learning experience to foster appreciation and generate excitement for STEM topics. Designed for kids ranging from toddlers to tweens, Launch’s unique programs spark each child’s intrinsic desire to learn.

The company is hiring part-time instructors to to teach afterschool classes in Forest Hills, Queens.

Launch Instructors work in one of our partner schools in Queens leading project based enrichment classes focused on STEM. Examples of STEM classes include (but are not limited to): Coding with Scratch, Freaky Forces + Elusive Energies, Rockin' Robotics, and our "I Wanna Be..." series featuring Detective, Animator, and Marine Biologist! The opportunity in Queens focuses on coding and robotics classes during Fall 2025.

As a Launch Instructor you are expected to:

  • Provide top quality instruction utilizing proven Launch methods, curriculum, and provided materials
  • Enthusiastically engage students during instructional sessions
  • Help students gain confidence in their ability to learn and succeed
  • Constantly assess and consider ways to improve classroom experience
  • Maintain regular communications with the Launch Program Coordinators
  • For STEM classes, subject matter expertise in related sciences, tech, or math; A passion and skill for building hands-on projects with kids; Ability to code using Scratch is a requirement.
  • Strong desire to teach children
  • Personable, friendly, reliable and communicative
  • Previous experience working with students as a tutor or in a similar capacity
  • A relatively flexible schedule and the ability to commit to servicing students for an extended duration, preferably a full academic year
  • Most important, the belief that every student can learn and love math and science
  • $25 per hour, with assignments approximately 2 hours in duration
  • For STEM classes, all curriculum and materials are provided (you do not need to create lesson plans)
  • Part-time position
