About the LangChain:
At LangChain, our mission is to make intelligent agents ubiquitous. We provide the agent engineering platform and open source frameworks developers need to ship reliable agents fast.
Our open source frameworks, LangChain and LangGraph, see over 90+ million downloads per month and help developers build agents with speed and granular control. LangSmith offers observability, evaluation, and deployment for rapid iteration, enabling teams to transform LLM systems into dependable production experiences.
LangChain is trusted by millions of developers worldwide and powers AI teams at companies like Replit, Clay, Cloudflare, Harvey, Rippling, Vanta, Workday, and more.
About the role:
We’re looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead the team behind LangChain and LangGraph, our open-source frameworks for building production-grade LLM applications.
You’ll own the roadmap, releases, and technical direction of these projects — ensuring they remain fast, reliable, and developer-friendly. You’ll guide an experienced team of Python and TypeScript engineers, collaborate closely with the open source community, and help developers everywhere build with confidence on the LangChain ecosystem.
This role blends deep technical leadership with community stewardship: you’ll shape architecture and APIs for long-term stability and developer experience, while fostering contributions, feedback, and collaboration across the global LangChain community.
What you will do:
Build, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of engineers, fostering collaboration, ownership, and accountability.
Strengthen LangChain’s engineering culture through mentorship, high-quality code, and technical excellence.
Shape the technical direction and ensure a delightful developer experience of LangChain and LangGraph.
Partner with product, design, docs and developer relations to set priorities, shape roadmap, and define success criteria.
Engage directly with the open source community review contributions, respond to feedback, and cultivate new maintainers.
Lead by example in writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code in Python and TypeScript when needed.
Collaborate closely with LangSmith and other internal teams to ensure a cohesive developer experience across the LangChain ecosystem.
Champion developer experience and documentation quality, maintaining a high bar for usability and clarity.
How to be successful in this role:
Experience managing or tech-leading teams delivering complex, developer-focused open source projects.
Strong technical background in Python and TypeScript, with deep understanding of software architecture, API design, and developer tooling.
Proven ability to balance fast iteration with ecosystem stability and backward compatibility.
Hands-on experience building or maintaining open source frameworks or SDKs used by external developers.
Excellent communication skill comfortable engaging in public forums, GitHub discussions, and with community contributors.
Bias towards shipping quickly and learning from community and customers
Bonus: Experience building AI/LLM frameworks, developer tools, or orchestration platforms.
Bonus: Background in developer relations or community engagement.
