Responsibilities
- Maintain, refactor, and extend the core C++ modeling engine that runs large-scale peril-specific loss simulations.
- Implement new catastrophe risk and financial models in collaboration with the Science team.
- Modernize legacy components into a modular, containerized architecture and improve deployment automation and CI/CD.
- Profile and optimize I/O-intensive distributed workflows to meet enterprise SLAs in both client and cloud environments.
- Enhance distributed compute orchestration: job scheduler, API daemon, proxies, and multi-process distribution.
- Guide integration via APIs and visualization components for new user experiences and map-based UIs.
- Drive database stewardship, performance tuning, and data lineage on Microsoft SQL Server.
- Strengthen authentication, observability, testing, and incident response practices across the stack.
- Set technical direction, establish coding standards, mentor engineers, and coordinate cross-functional execution.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or related field or equivalent experience
- Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in a quantitative field preferred but not required
