Software Systems Engineer (Remote - US)

This role offers an exciting opportunity to design, develop, and maintain complex software systems that support mission-critical operations. You will work in a highly collaborative and technically challenging environment, contributing to full-system lifecycle engineering and ensuring software, hardware, and communications are integrated seamlessly. The position involves high-level problem-solving, architecture design, and technical leadership, with potential exposure to client sites. Ideal candidates are experienced systems engineers who can balance innovative solutions with rigorous compliance and security requirements, driving impactful results in defense and operational technology projects.

Accountabilities:

·         Lead the design, development, and maintenance of complex software systems, ensuring compatibility with hardware, communications, and functional requirements.

·         Formulate and define specifications for new software or modify existing applications using engineering releases and manufacturer utilities.

·         Provide top-level technical expertise, including in-depth software systems programming, analysis, and troubleshooting.

·         Design architectures that support present and future cross-functional requirements and interfaces, adhering to open systems and DoD standards.

·         Evaluate hardware and software options to meet functional and technical requirements, including updates and upgrades.

·         Develop high-level system design diagrams, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation.

·         Instruct, direct, and review the work of other personnel, ensuring quality assurance standards are met.

·         Assist in all phases of software systems programming applications and contribute to special projects as needed.

·         Minimum of 10 years of experience in systems engineering and software development.

·         Experience with MicroStrategy or other Business Intelligence platforms, analytics, data modeling, and dashboard design.

·         Knowledge of modern security solutions, including blockchain or related cryptographic technologies.

·         Relevant technical certification from a nationally recognized authority.

·         Active Secret Clearance required.

·         Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.

·         Ability to work effectively in office-based and collaborative environments, including occasional travel to client sites.

·         Physical ability to perform office tasks, including prolonged sitting, computer work, and lifting 15–25 pounds.
