Lead Data Engineer

This hands-on leadership role is responsible for architecting, building, and optimizing scalable data solutions within a cloud-native environment. You will guide the design and implementation of modern data platforms, including medallion architectures, Azure Data Factory pipelines, Logic Apps, Function Apps, and Microsoft Fabric. The position involves mentoring engineers, establishing technical standards, and ensuring secure, performant, and reliable data delivery across the organization. You will collaborate with product managers, business leaders, and external partners to translate requirements into technical solutions, drive system integration, and support data governance initiatives. • Accountabilities:
• Architect, develop, and maintain scalable ELT/ETL data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Microsoft Fabric.
• Implement medallion architecture (bronze, silver, gold layers) to support modular, performant data processing.
• Design orchestration workflows using Azure Logic Apps and Function Apps to automate data movement and transformation.
• Lead technical design, conduct code reviews, and mentor data engineering team members to ensure maintainable, high-quality solutions.
• Integrate data across diverse systems via REST/SOAP APIs and vendor-specific interfaces.
• Optimize data pipelines and storage solutions for performance, scalability, cost-efficiency, and security.
• Contribute to data governance efforts, including data quality, lineage, and stewardship, and maintain detailed documentation of workflows, architecture, and operational processes.
• Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience in data engineering, including at least 3 years in a technical leadership or architecture role.
• Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure, including Azure Data Factory, Data Lake, Logic Apps, Function Apps, and Microsoft Fabric.
• Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL for data transformation, modeling, and automation.
• Experience designing, deploying, and maintaining ELT/ETL pipelines with robust monitoring and observability.
• Proven ability to lead technical design discussions, mentor engineers, and establish engineering standards.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines for data workflows, Master Data Management (MDM), and cloud-based data governance frameworks.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
