Director of Project Development- MISO

This senior leadership role is responsible for overseeing renewable energy project development across the MISO footprint, including utility-scale solar, wind, and battery storage projects. You will lead a team of developers, managing projects from early-stage concept through construction readiness while navigating complex permitting, land, interconnection, and community engagement challenges. The role requires strategic vision, financial acumen, and the ability to align multiple stakeholders, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and in compliance with regulations. This position is ideal for a highly organized and adaptive leader eager to drive impactful clean energy projects in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Accountabilities:

• Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of project developers and associates.
• Define development strategy, set milestones, and ensure alignment with corporate objectives.
• Oversee all aspects of renewable energy project development in the MISO region, including site control, permitting, environmental studies, interconnection, and regulatory compliance.
• Manage relationships with utilities, transmission providers, and public stakeholders to facilitate successful project execution.
• Provide executive-level reporting on project progress, risks, and mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with finance, legal, and engineering teams to optimize project design, budgets, schedules, and performance metrics.
• Engage with communities and landowners to build trust and minimize development risk.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, environmental studies, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• 8+ years of renewable energy project development experience, with demonstrated success advancing projects to NTP or COD.
• Strong leadership and team management experience, including mentoring and growing development teams.
• Deep understanding of MISO-specific development challenges, including interconnection, permitting, real estate, and mineral/title complexities.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and community relations skills.
• Financial acumen for structuring, evaluating project economics, and managing risks.
• Highly organized, adaptive, and able to operate effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
• Willingness to travel up to 30% as required.
