This senior communications and technical writing role combines strategic storytelling with meticulous editing to produce high-impact materials that inform, guide, and engage stakeholders. You will create, refine, and deliver a wide range of products including executive summaries, briefing decks, one-pagers, abstracts, and evidence-based reports. Working closely with cross-functional teams—project managers, analysts, designers, and event staff—you will ensure all outputs are accurate, accessible, and aligned with federal standards, including Section 508 compliance. Your work will support portfolio governance, stakeholder communications, and event planning, helping leadership and technical audiences make informed decisions. The role provides the opportunity to influence how complex program information is presented, ensuring clarity, consistency, and actionable insight across multiple initiatives.

Accountabilities

·         Develop high-visibility communications products such as briefing decks, executive summaries, one-pagers, abstracts, and options memos.

·         Review and edit evidence briefs, evaluation reports, and technical documentation for accuracy, clarity, and consistency.

·         Ensure all products comply with VA, federal, and Section 508 accessibility standards.

·         Collaborate with project teams to translate complex data and findings into clear, actionable content.

·         Support portfolio governance, events, and stakeholder communications through polished materials like fact sheets, run-of-show scripts, and after-action summaries.

·         Maintain editorial consistency across all program deliverables, balancing technical rigor with accessible presentation.

·         Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Communications, Journalism, English, or related field.

·         8+ years of experience in communications, public relations, or technical writing.

·         Proven ability to write and edit professional documents for both technical and non-technical audiences.

·         Strong understanding of medical and healthcare terminology.

·         Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility requirements.

·         Exceptional skills in simplifying technical material into clear, compelling narratives.

·         Optional: Experience with document formatting and design tools (Adobe, MS Publisher, or similar).

·         Desired: Experience supporting VA communications, publications, or technical documentation.
