Position Summary:
The Instrumental Music Product Specialist is responsible for curating and managing the catalog of instrumental music for school ensembles at all levels—elementary through high school. This role combines deep knowledge of educational instrumental repertoire with a strong understanding of teacher needs and student engagement to ensure educators can easily find high-quality, relevant materials. This music specialist is enthusiastic about instrumental music education, meticulous, and committed to supporting the needs of school band and orchestra directors across diverse programs and styles. This is a full-time, salaried position based on a standard 40-hour workweek. During peak seasons or special projects, additional hours may occasionally be required to meet deadlines and business needs.
This Position is in-house at our Exton, PA Corporate Headquarters and not remote.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Management
· Curate instrumental music for school ensembles, ensuring a balanced and diverse catalog that supports educational goals.
· Review new instrumental music submissions from publishers and maintain effective communication with them throughout the year.
· Prepare the music for promotion by applying appropriate attributes and annotations.
· Determine Editor’s Choice selections, Basic Library, and identify titles for marketing and promotion.
Data Analysis & Sales Strategy
· Utilize product sales reports to optimize product promotions.
· Develop and implement specific sales strategies aligned with the academic calendar and performance seasons as related to the school music market.
· Maintain and update storefront and department pages for school instrumental music.
· Collaborate with marketing and web teams to align digital content and merchandising strategies.
Community Outreach & Advocacy
· Serve as a subject matter expert on school instrumental music trends across various age groups and performance settings.
· Build and maintain relationships with band and orchestra directors, and music educators to understand their buying patterns and needs.
· Promote Pepper’s tools and services, including Editors’ Choice and Basic Library.
· Participate in continuous improvement efforts for the department and company.
