Jr. Backend Engineer Specialist
Skills
- 3+ years building scalable backend systems in production
- Strong programming in Node.js and JavaScript; solid Python experience
- Experience with Express.js, RESTful APIs and GraphQL
- Familiarity with Docker and container orchestration (Kubernetes is a plus)
- Understanding of microservices, event-driven design and distributed systems
- Experience with message queues (RabbitMQ) and in-memory stores (Redis)
- Comfortable with Git-based workflows, CI/CD and infrastructure as code
- Experience deploying or operating workloads on Google Cloud Platform preferred
Responsibilities
- Design, implement and maintain backend services and performant APIs using Node.js, Express and Python (Django preferred)
- Containerize applications and deploy resilient services using Docker and Kubernetes on cloud platforms (GCP preferred)
- Design and implement microservice and event-driven architectures, integrating message queues and caching
- Integrate and maintain messaging systems such as RabbitMQ and caching with Redis
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, follow Git-based workflows and contribute to CI/CD pipelines
- Monitor, troubleshoot and optimize production services for reliability and performance
- Deliver secure, documented code and operate as an independent contractor running your own business
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent practical experience
- Relevant cloud or platform certifications (GCP) are a plus
