About This Role

Intersect is building the integrated energy infrastructure that the future demands, and this role sits at the center of that mission. As part of the Origination & Trading organization, you’ll lead the creation of a programmatic optimization platform that turns real-time data, forecasting models, and asset intelligence into automated ERCOT market decisions. This role delivers long-term portfolio value by enabling sophisticated, reliable optimization across a diverse mix of storage, solar, wind, thermal generation, and load assets, while partnering closely with trading, engineering, and operations teams.

Team Overview

The Origination & Trading team is responsible for Intersect’s revenue generation through long-term contracting on the Origination side and market optimization and short-term hedging on the Trading side. This team plays a critical role in advancing Intersect’s mission by translating asset capabilities and market opportunities into durable financial performance through collaboration, data-driven decision-making, and operational excellence.

What You’ll Do

Build Multi-Asset Optimization Capabilities

• Design and deliver an advanced optimization platform enabling automated 5-minute ERCOT market bidding across storage, solar, wind, gas generation, and load assets

•Translate market rules, asset constraints, offtake terms, and operational conditions into scalable, automated bidding logic

•Ensure optimization outputs align with portfolio strategy and long-term value creation goals

Architect Real-Time Data and Modeling Systems

•Build near-real-time data pipelines that integrate asset telemetry, forecasts, and market data into trading workflows

•Lead the design and selection of forecasting models and optimization frameworks that support fast, reliable decision-making

•Continuously improve forecasting accuracy and optimization performance based on market outcomes and asset feedback

Enable Trading and Operational Excellence

•Partner closely with trading, engineering, and operations teams to align system design with market strategy and operational realities

•Guide technical decisions related to data architecture, software design, and system resilience

•Ensure system reliability and performance in live market conditions

Develop Technical Talent and Best Practices

•Mentor engineers and analysts, setting standards for modeling rigor, data quality, and real-time system operations

•Establish repeatable processes and best practices that support scalable growth of optimization capabilities

What You’ll Bring

• Deep expertise in ERCOT market design, real-time operations, and automated bidding systems.

• Proven experience building production-grade optimization platforms operating on near-real-time data.

• Strong background in forecasting, optimization, and data-driven decision systems across energy assets.

• Experience working with storage, solar, wind, thermal generation, and load resources.

• Hands-on technical leadership with the ability to guide architecture, modeling, and system design decisions.

• Ability to translate complex market rules and asset constraints into reliable, automated solutions.

• Clear communication skills that enable strong partnerships with traders, engineers, and operations teams.

• A mission-driven mindset and long-term perspective aligned with building enduring infrastructure.

Compensation: $292,500 to $337,500 (total compensation includes base salary + bonus in USD)
