Position Summary:The Director of Construction – Data Centers is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategic oversight and execution of all construction activities within the data center division. This individual will lead a high-performing team of project executives, managers, and field personnel, ensuring the successful delivery of complex, large-scale data center projects across multiple regions. The Director will drive operational excellence, foster client relationships, and align construction initiatives with broader business goals.

What You'll Do

Key Responsibilities:

 

Strategic Leadership & Vision:  Define and execute the long-term construction strategy for the data center business unit.  Collaborate with executive leadership to align construction operations with company growth objectives and client expectations.  Lead the development and implementation of scalable processes, systems, and best practices across all projects.

 

Operational Oversight:  Oversee a portfolio of large-scale data center construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.  Ensure consistent execution across all projects with a focus on safety, quality, schedule, and budget adherence.  Conduct executive-level project reviews and risk assessments, ensuring proactive mitigation strategies are in place.

 

Team Development & Mentorship:  Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Project Executives, Project Managers, and support staff.  Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth.  Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion within the construction team.

 

Client & Stakeholder Engagement:  Serve as the primary executive liaison for key clients, ensuring satisfaction and long-term partnership development.  Represent the company in high-level meetings with clients, consultants, and industry partners.  Promote the company’s brand and capabilities within the data center and construction industries.

 

Financial & Risk Management:  Own the financial performance of the data center construction division, including forecasting, budgeting, and profitability.  Oversee contract negotiations, change management, and claims resolution.  Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and safety standards across all projects.

What You'll Bring

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in construction management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven track record of delivering large-scale, mission-critical data center projects.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Deep understanding of data center infrastructure, MEP systems, and mission-critical construction practices.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing large budgets and complex schedules.
  • Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, scheduling tools).
  • Ability to travel frequently to project sites and client meetings.

What You'll Get

Working Conditions:

The majority of the time you will work on construction job sites or in an office setting. When on construction job sites you will encounter typical construction conditions including extreme temperatures, noise, dust, mud debris, welding, leading edge, trenching, and shoring, sometimes in a confined space.  You may be required to visit multiple locations during any one day.

Benefits Overview:  IME provides an industry-leading comprehensive benefits package.  Full-time employees are eligible to choose from a variety of healthcare coverage options, which become effective the first of the month after hire.  In addition, employees are offered a substantial amount of PTO and are immediately eligible to make contributions to a generously matched and fully vested 401k.  

Salary Range: 

$144,500 - $195,500

*Final salary and rates are based on education, experience, skills relevant to the role, and internal equity.*

As an electrical contractor, we install and service the power and lighting to commercial and industrial buildings in the Western US.

Compensation Range

The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $144,500.00/Yr. - USD $195,500.00/Yr. depending on experience and qualifications.
