The Director of Revenue Cycle Services – Patient Financial Services (Specialty Billing) is responsible for leading revenue cycle operations of billing and collections for System Health Solutions service lines along with guaranteed vendor accounts, workers’ compensation, retail pharmacy, transplant global services, and international accounts. The Director provides strategic direction, administrative decision-making, and operational leadership to ensure the effective and efficient use of resources. This role is accountable for implementing high-quality, standardized work processes that drive consistent outcomes aligned with national benchmarks. Collaboration with fellow Directors and Executive Directors is essential to ensure cohesive leadership and alignment of standards across the division. Success in this role requires deep subject matter expertise and strong leadership capabilities to effectively manage a complex operational environment.

  • Leading a high-performing team that provides direct support for billing and collections operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
  • Managing vendor and partner relationships, including oversight, performance evaluation, and budget accountability.
  • Collaborating across departments to design and implement strategies that improve total collective effectiveness.
  • Partnering closely with the Revenue Cycle Services (RCS) leadership team, particularly the Directors of System Patient Access (SPA) and Directors of Patient Financial Services (PFS)—to execute enterprise-wide strategic initiatives.
  • Working in alignment with System Health Services service line leaders and operational teams to drive execution of shared goals and initiatives.
  • Championing innovation and continuous improvement to enhance outcomes, while ensuring standardized work processes and consistent performance across teams.
  • Driving data-informed decision-making using dashboards, KPIs, and analytics to identify trends, monitor performance, and guide operational improvements.
  • Supporting change management efforts related to new technologies, system implementations, or regulatory changes impacting revenue cycle operations.
  • Fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional development within the team and across functional areas

Direct Reports: 5 Managers and 3 Operational Performance Experts/Business Analysts 

Candidate Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Requires at least three years of revenue cycle management experience with demonstrated success in leading operational teams.
  • Requires demonstrable knowledge of healthcare billing terminology concepts and processes. 
  • Requires the ability to plan, allocate, and manage resources effectively to meet performance goals.
  • Requires a high level of interpersonal, problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Requires effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively in both individual and group settings.
  • Requires the ability to organize and manage work to achieve performance expectations in a fast-paced environment.
  • Requires the ability to promote teamwork, mentor staff, and foster professional development.
  • Requires a passionate commitment to continuous performance improvement.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with clinical, operational, and financial stakeholders to support enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • Requires ability to manage within the confines of a budget; Proficiency in managing departmental budgets and aligning financial performance with strategic goals preferred.
  • Familiarity with healthcare systems and tools such as Allscripts, Brightree, Cerner, SMS, and IDX or similar platforms preferred.
