Job Description:
HUB International Limited, a North American leader in the insurance industry, is hiring a Manager of Accounting and Controls. This is a newly created position designed to address the needs of this rapidly growing firm. With more than 17,000 employees across North America, this industry leader plans to continue its growth through further acquisition and organic growth. With this growth, it has become necessary to add additional members to the accounting team. This Accounting and Controls (A&C) position will focus on mitigating business risks by ensuring business units are in compliance with GAAP, corporate policies, contractual agreements and external regulations. The Manager of Accounting and Controls will work under the direction of the Corporate Controller. The high visibility position will work directly with internal/external auditors and finance management across the company. The ideal candidate will be able to manage and accomplish the goals across multiple projects concurrently, have a strong desire to improve processes by leveraging data and information systems, and possess a sense of creativity and flexibility toward meeting objectives.
Job Responsibilities:
Oversee preparation/review of balance sheet account reconciliations. Identify and document processes, report on issues, and propose remediations.
Lead companywide balance sheet reconciliation clean-up/ownership project.
Monitor and address any issues with daily subledger feeds to the general ledger system.
Review and process capitalized labor activity monthly.
Conduct process walk-throughs, documenting process narratives, and identifying and documenting internal controls.
Document, maintain and improve Hub’s accounting and corporate policies.
Provide consulting and advocacy services to finance and accounting teams to affect a robust, mature, and reliable system of internal controls over financial reporting.
Manage and strengthen A&C group’s account reconciliation procedures.
Develop and manage direct relationships with corporate and regional finance/accounting leadership in a high-visibility position.
Work directly with the external audit firm on the annual financial audit.
Participate in monthly financial close activities as requested.
Monthly profit and loss review of corporate cost centers.
Provide ad hoc assistance to the accounting, finance, and M&A departments for special projects as necessary.
Supervise, train, and develop Senior Accountant.
Candidate Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
5+ years of experience, experience with a nationally recognized public accounting or consulting firm preferred.
CPA preferred.
Experience collaborating directly with external auditors.
Experience with Oracle Fusion, Hyperion, Smart View, Business Intelligence, Blackline or other account reconciliation software is a plus.
Ability to effectively manage multiple concurrent projects both in a group and independently.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Desire to implement automated and technological solutions to accounting processes.
