Hawk-Eye Finance is comprised of two teams: Commercial Finance and Accounting. The Accounting team is responsible for all accounting processes and policies, including actuals analysis and insights. Commercial Finance focuses on forward-looking planning and analysis, including forecasting, budgeting, deal analysis, and general P&L partnering.
The US Sports Commercial Finance Manager role is in the Commercial Finance team, and is the finance business partner covering our US Sports business unit. The role is based in Atlanta and directly supports the MD of our US Sports business. This role reports to the Senior Commercial Finance Manager based in the UK. This is a new role, created to bring commercial finance capabilities to the team and support Hawk-Eye’s growth.
Responsibilities include:
Be the commercial finance business partner to Hawk-Eye’s US Sports business unit. Develop strong relationships with business teams. Actively collaborate with and challenge the business to achieve their objectives. Support decision making with sound, data-driven analysis and insights.
Own monthly forecasting, annual budgeting, and multi-year planning with business partners. Analyse actuals and forecast movements, and surface insights, opportunities, and risks. Ensure plans are robust, well-analysed, and defensible. Collaborate with business partners, finance teammates, and Sony finance teams regularly. Contribute to global consolidation and presentations.
Develop, implement, and scale regular reporting mechanisms to provide business partners and senior leaders with actionable insights. These can include reports, dashboards, and weekly/monthly/quarterly reviews. Identify and communicate trends, risks, and opportunities to improve results.
Conduct deal analysis, modelling, and new business case creation. Build sound, clear models using modelling best practices. Implement a structured modelling and review process for new deals and new product development business cases with P&Ls.
Perform ad-hoc analyses and deep dives. Initiate, own, and support cross-functional projects that support Hawk-Eye's growth, strategic goals, and finance continuous improvement initiatives.
Mentor junior team members and be a positive influence on the team. Introduce best practices that work at scale. Be willing to introduce change and improvement.
Examples of projects and work we've done recently:
Post-merger integration. Support the integration of a newly acquired company, including incorporating revenue and costs into Hawk-Eye's financials; designing processes for ongoing financial management and visibility; deep dive financials and pipeline to understand opportunities and risks.
Help implement a new global FP&A system to improve the forecasting and planning processes, streamline data collection and analysis, and automate the finance workflow.
Deep dive capacity and utilisation across P&Ls to find opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce cost.
Model profitability and ROI for Hawk-Eye’s products, factoring in monetisation plans and historical investment. Work with Product, Commercial to agree on product definitions, balancing with management decision making requirements.
Partner with the business to create a robust 3-year plan, using both top-down and bottom-up methods. Find creative, sustainable ways to hit aggressive growth targets. Link 3-year plan outputs to product roadmap asks, investment, and headcount.
You’re a commercially-minded finance manager or senior analyst, with experience partnering with business, commercial, and operations leads.
You've worked in fast-paced, high-performing teams before, and you're willing to help a growing team in a growing business to transform, upskill, and raise the bar.
You know what good looks like, and you're able to help a growth-stage company move fast but also grow up and scale up our finance processes for sustainable growth.
You’re collaborative, open-minded, and are good at earning trust.
You can dive deep into technical details, handle complex, technical modelling, and you’re confident in high-judgment situations.
You love to learn and embrace the chance to learn new skills and approaches, and share best practices with the team. You are a good writer and can communicate complex and technical concepts with structure and clarity.
You've got solid skills in:
Finance concepts (eg revenue recognition, investment analysis, etc.),
Financial and operational modelling (excel/google sheets) and data analysis
Commercial acumen
Critical thinking
Verbal and written presentation
Multi-stakeholder/matrix management
Automation and process improvement
It would be helpful but not essential if you understand SQL, AWS/cloud ops, and the sports entertainment industry.
