Head of Engineering at Handoff
As a Head of Engineering, you will build and lead an international engineering team to develop an intuitive, reliable, AI-driven platform for residential contractors. You will deliver on time practical software features and AI tools that automate estimating, project management, client communication, and materials purchasing. This role requires a balance of technical leadership, a strategic mindset, and the ability to collaborate across teams to improve product quality, usability, and customer satisfaction.
- Manage engineers and guide them in the development of technical solutions aligned with business goals.
- Steer the application of AI to solve real-world problems, ensuring a focus on delivering tangible and valuable outcomes.
- Lead and mentor distributed, international engineering teams, including those in LATAM, Europe, and India.
- Offer hands-on technical leadership and support to the engineering team, stepping in to address technical challenges as needed.
- Ensure engineering consistently improves the customer experience.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Proven leadership experience in managing distributed, international engineering teams, including experience with teams in regions such as LATAM, Europe, and India.
- Strong familiarity and practical experience with Node.js, Expo, TypeScript, and AWS cloud services.
- Direct experience managing engineers working with AI and machine learning is essential.
- A strong passion for practical AI applications and their real-world impact.
- Demonstrated experience in handling and optimizing complex data pipelines.
- A background working at startups (Series A to C funding stages); founder experience is considered a significant plus.
- Proven ability to effectively manage and scale engineering teams of 40 or more engineers.
- Hands-on technical capability and willingness to contribute technically when necessary.
- Experience working at product-led companies is considered a plus.
