As a Staff Infrastructure Engineer, you will work with your team on various challenging projects and build the Infrastructure for our platform and the thousands of companies that trust HackerOne with their cybersecurity posture.
You are a collaborative and effective Infrastructure Engineer leader and team member. You combine broad technological expertise, deep domain knowledge, and an unquestionable dedication to security as you intersect with the engineering organization. You seek leadership responsibilities, identify and spearhead new initiatives, and make systematic improvements to technical weaknesses you find in your squad’s codebases and shared codebases across the company.
You understand what it takes to build highly available, performant, and durable cloud architecture. You work cross-functionally, earning buy-in from stakeholders across the organization with a service mentality.
At HackerOne, we embrace a Flexible Work approach that gives us the freedom to do our best work while also fostering the connections and community that make us stronger. Reflecting this philosophy, this is a remote role targeted for candidates within ~50 miles of Boston, MA; Seattle, WA; San Francisco Bay Area; Austin, TX; or Washington, DC. We believe this balance of proximity and flexibility gives Hackeronies the chance to occasionally come together – fostering collaboration, connection, and in-person moments that enrich our culture – while still preserving the benefits of remote work.
Your first 30 days will be focused on getting to know our HackerOnies. You will join your new squad and be onboarded to engineering - get to learn the technology stack (AWS, Terraform, Ruby on Rails + GraphQL + many more).
By day 60, you will have been eased into our on-call rotations, you’ll be leading a meaningful project for the team, and you will have become more connected within the larger HackerOne organization.
Beyond 90 days, you will be a full-fledged Infrastructure Engineer. By that time, you will be able to understand the business value of our products and features and the needs of our customers, and you can translate feature requests into simple but robust engineering (or non-engineering) solutions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation, execution, and alignment across multiple domains
Contribute to a positive team culture by supporting and learning from your fellow Infrastructure Engineers, spread across the US and Europe.
Take ownership of your personal growth and professional development
Apply your technical skills in a people-focused environment, helping build scalable solutions while fostering strong team relationships

8+ years of experience as engineer, with experience in the following tools: Linux, Amazon Web Services, Terraform, Kubernetes, Datadog, Cloudflare, OpenSearch
Must be willing to work our on-call rotation between the hours of 9-9pm PT/12-12pm ET once every 4 weeks; Sunday to Monday schedule.
