Senior Software Engineer, Bare Metal
Skills
- Proficiency in Rust, C, or C++ and ARMv7/ARMv8 assembly
- Experience developing bare-metal code, infrastructure, and device drivers
- Board bring-up experience (bootloaders, BSPs, vendor integration)
- Familiarity with standard embedded I/O (UART, I2C, SPI, eMMC) and ISRs
- Understanding of MMUs, timers, entropy sources, and hardware health tests
- Security-focused development practices for embedded systems
Responsibilities
- Design and develop low-level bare-metal infrastructure and drivers with rigorous testing and validation
- Perform board bring-up for embedded ARM boards including bootloaders and hardware bring-up tasks
- Customize vendor BSPs and integrate software stacks for ARM SoC platforms
- Implement security measures for embedded devices and support secure boot/firmware workflows
- Develop and maintain automated tests and health checks for embedded systems
- Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and systems teams to integrate software with complex SoCs
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred
- Equivalent professional experience in embedded/bare-metal development accepted
