Grepr is a deep tech company where we highly value relationships, collaboration, focus, and execution. As the engineering lead, you will take over a tightly knit high-performing engineering team, helping us scale the team and product with our market success. You will wear many hats, not only building a product but a company from the ground up, helping shape it to an exciting and fun place to work.
Our product uses cutting-edge machine learning to understand patterns in observability data and uses that information to help companies deliver more reliable software to their customers. As the VP Eng, you’ll manage the engineering team, inspire and motivate our exceptional ICs, plan and execute on our product, and help make some of the foundational technical decisions for our product. You will help us strategize on customer support, engineering execution, and product delivery. We are well funded by investors like Andreessen Horowitz and Boldstart Capital.
As an essential part of our small team, you will:
Be deeply involved in architectural and product discussions and planning.
Grow, mentor, inspire and nurture a talented engineering team.
Lead projects from inception to completion, and following through to deliver on changes needed to make deals happen.
Deliver an exceptional user experience for our customers.
Forge strong partnerships with product management to bring our product roadmap to life.
Own customer support and success in the initial phases of company growth.
Experience delivering infrastructure software to users in the Cloud and on-prem, executing on an externally facing product for a b2b business.
Experience building observability products is preferred but not required.
Experience in building and scaling real-time data processing applications or AI applications in a SaaS model.
Experience working with large enterprise customers and the kind of needs and demands they require.
Proven ability to guide and inspire an engineering team.
Demonstrated skill in hiring, training, and mentoring a diverse team of high-performing engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning, growth, and excellence in software development and maintenance.
BS in CS/EE or equivalent with 10+ years of industry experience, including 4+ years in a technical leadership role.
Ideally, experience in early stage startups and deep experience in Java and stream processing systems, especially Apache Flink.
We strongly believe that engineering teams work best when everyone is an equally motivated, strong contributor to the team, and when egos are dropped and communication and feedback are open and constant. That’s why our motto is “team first”. We believe being physically together is the best way to build new systems that are rapidly evolving and to mentor and onboard new team members. That’s why we’re on-site at our office at 3043 Mission St, San Francisco, CA, at least 3 days a week.
Competitive salary and significant equity as one of the first few people on the team.
Flexible PTO: we really want you to take some time off!
100% paid healthcare coverage for employees and 80% coverage for their dependents
Ultimately, a company is the people that form it, and we want to build a place where people will do the best work of their lives. You’ll have a huge impact in helping us figure out all the right pieces to make it an amazing place to work. I hope that makes it as exciting for you as it does for me.
Grepr provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetics, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.
