We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team supporting the Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) at their Kesselring Site! This position is full-time and will be based out of West Milton, NY. This role is anticipated to be short-term (~2 months) with the possibility of extension.
Responsibilities
The Naval Nuclear Laboratory develops advanced naval nuclear propulsion technology for the safety and reliability of our Navy's submarine and aircraft fleet.
Our company is looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team as part of the Propulsion Plant Team Trainer (PPTT) project, which is a multi-site organization engaged in the design, production, testing, and delivery of advanced training simulators.
The successful candidate will:
Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineers across multiple locations
Review and disposition Supplier mechanical design submittals to validate designs based on technical requirements
Interface with stakeholders to ensure project objectives are satisfied
Review static structural analyses of designs
Requirements
Education & Years of Experience – Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university and 3+ years of relevant experience
Citizenship – To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work
Clearance – To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed
Desired Skills
Experience with SolidWorks or equivalent 3D modeling software - Experience with Model Based Design
Experience supporting design reviews and technical interchanges with Suppliers
Experience reviewing static structural analyses (e.g. FEA)
Ability to review, understand, and apply relevant engineering codes and standards (e.g. ASME, AWS)
Experience with Design for Manufacturability and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD& T) - Experience reviewing designs for joining processes (e.g. welding)
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Ability to think creatively and make recommendations to senior project personnel
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products
