About Company
Client is a profitable, fast-growing, YC-backed company supported by top investors (GC, SV Angel, A Capital, Liquid 2, etc.). The company provides live company and people data via APIs and full dataset delivery, making hard-to-get data easy to use at scale. Their technology pipes in live data from over a dozen sources and delivers it instantly to customers, serving use cases such as:
- Automatic pipeline building
- Pipeline prioritization
- Champion watching
- Company and people triggers for sales and marketing automation
- Investment deal sourcing
Client’s goal is to index all important data on the web and deliver it to customers in an easy-to-use way. The company is launching a new consumer product to expand from <1% customer coverage to the full market.
---
About the Role — Product Engineer (New Product, First Owner):
The Company is seeking its first engineer dedicated to a new product line. This is a high-autonomy, high-ownership role for a builder, grinder, and founder-type engineer.
You will own the product end-to-end from 0→1, including discovery, prototyping, building, shipping, and iterating. The product is a consumer-facing, self-serve layer on top of Client’s data infrastructure, enabling non-technical users (HR, Sales, Ops) to create AI agents from natural language prompts.
---
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the 0→1 build of a new product on top of Client's APIs.
- Build core algorithms for deterministic AI agents created from natural language.
- Own product strategy and execution: user discovery, scoping, rapid prototyping, shipping, iteration, and metrics.
- Collaborate closely with Sales and Customer Success to identify high-leverage workflows.
- Build production-quality UX (fast, simple, correct).
- Work with the Head of Engineering on architecture, reliability, and data/privacy guardrails.
---
Requirements:
- 5+ years shipping production-grade software.
- Strong full-stack engineering fundamentals.
- Proven 0→1 product experience.
- Experience working with sales/GTM teams.
- Ability to design and implement core algorithms, AI agent workflows, and natural language interfaces.
- Willingness/eligibility to work in-person in San Francisco for prototyping days (visa sponsorship available).
- Prior startup experience (Series A/B+ preferred).
---
Preferred Qualifications (Green Flags):
- Experience in growth engineering at top companies (Ramp, Brex, Rippling, Workato).
- Founder or early-builder background, ideally in sales tooling, workflow automation, or data APIs.
- Strong CS fundamentals — graduates from IIT/IIIT/DTU or top-tier equivalents.
- Strong product mindset — ability to translate vague needs into shipped product.
- Familiarity with sales data ecosystems (funding, jobs, company data).
- Demonstrated ownership and tenure (2+ years in prior roles).
---
Disqualifying Factors (Red Flags):
- Job hopping (<2 years each role) without evidence of strong output.
- No experience working with sales or customer-facing teams.
- Extreme over-engineering tendencies.
- Weak exposure to API-based tools, real-time data, or workflow systems.
- Lack of grinder mentality — low resilience for high-effort build cycles.
---
Interview Process:
1. 30-min video call with CEO
2. 45-min technical screen with Head of Engineering
3. 1-day onsite prototyping
4. Final CEO chat
5. Offer
---
Ideal Companies From:
- Brex
- Ramp
- Rippling
- Plaid
- Airtable
- Numeral
- (Also acceptable: strong growth-stage SaaS/data infra companies)
---
Biggest Note:
- Candidates who are top engineers, graduated from top universities, and have experience in big tech moving into startups are almost certain to be shortlisted.
- Client is open to candidates with ex-quant backgrounds as well.
