Job Summary

The Commercial Real Estate Relationship Manager Team Lead is a senior originator and sales leader responsible for driving CRE loan production, building market presence, and standing up scalable CRE originations operations. This role is designed for a proven achiever with deep sponsor, developer, and intermediary relationships who can generate immediate deal flow while building a durable, high-performing origination platform. Manages and provides guidance to CRE Relationship Managers in the negotiation and structure of deals. Independently generates and assists team with new business and relationships that will produce revenue from companies, sponsors, developers and businesses. Generates deal flow directly from these clients/prospects and orchestrates a team approach to the relationship. Facilitates the team’s collaboration with product specialists, portfolio managers (credit, underwriting, transaction approvals/processing) and operational support specialists. Provides oversight and guidance in the origination, negotiation, structuring, pricing, underwriting, and closing of loans. Manages the team’s monitoring of portfolio quality and ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations and guidelines.
The Team Lead functions as a player-coach, combining top-tier personal production with leadership accountability for deal quality, execution discipline, and team performance. The role owns market development, deal strategy, and execution while partnering closely with Credit, Underwriting, Portfolio Management, and Operations to deliver profitable growth with disciplined risk management.

Pay Range: $198,453.00 - $245,574.00 - $279,818.00

Job Responsibilities:

  • 30% of time: New Business Origination & Market Leadership 

Independently originates, structures, negotiates, and closes complex, high-impact CRE transactions.

Leads and maintains relationships to generate direct deal flow; Coordinates the team approach to approving and closing new deals to grow assets and revenues while optimizing profitability (ROE).

Serves as primary market-facing representative and brand ambassador for the CRE platform.

  • 25% of time: Team Lead & Origination Execution:

Leads,, mentors, and develops  CRE Relationship Managers with a focus on sales execution, credit discipline and production accountability. Leads trouble shooting of escalated issues.  Monitors and assists with the most complex/high risk deals.  Acts as the escalation point for the largest, most complex, or highest-risk transactions. Promotes team approach, drives group revenues while optimizing profitability (ROE).

  • 20% of time:  Relationship Management

Manages and expands a portfolio of key CRE relationships alongside  portfolio managers. Engage with sponsors and borrowers on idea generation and relevant opportunities to expand our relationship.

Proactively identifies opportunities to deepen relationships through new structures, products, or capital solutions.

  • 10% of time: Strategic Planning & Origination Build-Out

Partners with senior leadership to design, launch, and refine CRE origination strategy, including new markets, coverage models, or product initiatives.

Tracks production metrics, and revenue, and forecasting results for management based on existing pipelines.

  • 10% of time:  Credit Quality & Risk Oversight:

Works with assigned portfolio managers to ensure pro-active monitoring of the credit quality of the portfolio through timely financial statement gathering, monitoring client’s compliance with ongoing required reporting, properly analyzing financial information and taking or recommending appropriate corrective actions based on acceptable levels.  Ultimately responsible for managing the banks risk exposure to acceptable levels.

  • 5% of time: Maintaining Knowledge: 

Stays abreast of industry trends and market conditions that could impact the assigned portfolio of relationships and borrowers.

  • Responsible for talent management functions including: employment, performance evaluations, staff development/training, disciplinary actions, succession planning and ensuring all staff comply with compliance requirements.
  • Uses independent judgement and discretion to make decisions.

ADDITIONAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Performs special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Consistently adheres to regulatory and compliance policies and standards linked to the job as listed and complete required compliance trainings.  Accountable to maintain compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Required Qualifications:

  • Education level required: Undergraduate Degree (4 years or equivalent) in business, finance or related field.
  • Minimum experience required: 15+ Years of experience in commercial lending. 
  • 5+ Commercial Real Estate Lending Relationship Management and/or CRE origination with demonstrated top-tier production.  Some experience in commercial credit may substitute for production experience.
  • Proven ability to source, structure, and close CRE transactions independently
  • Experience helping build or scale an origination platform strongly preferred.
  • Credit training preferred.

Job Competencies:

  • Expert knowledge of commercial lending credit, underwriting and loan structuring skills.
  • Expert analytical skills to understand financial and cash flow analyses.
  • Highly developed negotiation skills in addition to excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized and ability to manage competing demands and deadlines.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including; Word and Excel.
  • Ability to mentor and lead a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, leverage, and monetize deep market networks. Strong ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders by communicating clearly, engaging in proactive collaboration, and leveraging cross functional insights. Aligns relationship building efforts with enterprise goals to accelerate performance and drive strategic results.
  • Strong relationship-building skills aligned with enterprise growth objectives.
  • Builds trusted client relationships, whether internal or external, by identifying needs and delivering tailored solutions to enhance the overall client experience.
  • Some travel may be required.
  • Physical demands (ADA): The job requires a moderate degree of physical exertion and stamina such as standing, sitting, walking, driving or infrequent lifting.
